About the school
Over the past two years, SEAIA has developed a very close relationship with a school in northwestern Thailand that is operated in conjunction with the Burmese Labour Solidarity Organisation. Based on our visits to Mae Sot, we know that the school and its supporting organizations are an important source of support for the migrants and their children who take refuge in Thailand from the oppressive military regime in Burma, where last year the UN determined that "grave human rights violations continued to take place with impunity."
SEAIA's support has provided funds for a school lunch program, teacher salaries, textbooks, and other supplies. With continued fundraising efforts, SEAIA hopes to develop a reliable source of clean drinking water for the students and transportation opportunities for the children to advance to secondary educational institutions in the area.
